You know those friends who imprinted on you the moment you met them? And if you met them later in life you wondered how you had lived so long without knowing them? One of the greatest things that came from meeting and falling for my husband was meeting and falling for his friends. They are just GOOD people! So, when two of our friends, Vlad and Sandra, moved to the Cayman Islands almost two years ago, we knew someday we’d be heading out that way… because who doesn’t need an excuse to go to the beach?
When deciding on where to go for a quick summer escape, Mike and I knew we wanted two things; rest and relaxation. There were plenty of places we wanted to go but we’re both the type of people who, when visiting a new place don’t rest until we’ve seen EVERYTHING. Which is exciting, but not very relaxing.
We took a road trip after our wedding which was a fun, spontaneous and memorable honeymoon, but we had been torn between that and spending a week laying on the beach. So, after a pretty big year without a vacation we decided to take a second honeymoon and spend a week doing ab-so-lute-ly no-thing. Where does one go to find sun, sand, unlimited cocktails and lounging? Cabo San Lucas, baby!!!! And what does one pack for such a vacation? A suitcase full to the brim with bikini’s and maxi-dresses, baby!!!
In particular, THIS maxi-dress from American Eagle. I found it the day we left and loved that it was equal parts sweet and sassy. I knew I could wear it to explore around town and then out to dinner. The cut out on the lower back is sexy without being too much and the handkerchief ruffle on the front is flattering for larger chested ladies, such as myself. As Charlie Sheen might say, I was #winning.
In my opinion, it didn’t need to be decorated all that much. A couple of bangles and a top-knot created an easy-breasy morning walk #ootd and if you know me, I’m all about the no-muss, no-fuss concept.
It’s no surprise that we’re missing the sun and sand already… but now, we’re fully rejuvenated for our next vacation which is sure to be chalk-full and adventuresome!
Happy Valentine’s day, Y’all!!!!!
Hopefully, you’re all enjoying some heart shaped treats right now… maybe some flowers from your sweetie OR breakfast in bed perhaps???
Mike and I celebrated an early Love day with a special evening away in Banff before meeting up with my fam-jam for our annual Yates’ rocky mountain vacay.
I was treated to a lovely stay at the Rimrock Resort Hotel, complete with chocolate covered strawberries and truffles! Um, YUM. Our dinner at The Bison (BEST charcuterie plate we have EVER had…seriously, go. Immediately) was everything!
What’s a girl to do when her hubby wants to whisk her away for a night of romance? Pre-select mountain wear, STAT.
After a delicious date night in beautiful Banff, we were off to Canmore for a relaxing weekend at Rundle Cliffs Luxury Mountain Lodge. Every year, my parents treat their babies to a lovely weekend away in the mountains. We relish in this get-away because it’s short and food-filled. Everyone is in charge of a meal or two and very typically we do not get out of our pajamas for the 48 hours we’re together.
M and I were in charge of a Valentine’s brunch this morning (bacon, pancakes, hash browns and eggs), which we are currently enjoying the after effects of, along with many, many heart shaped treats! Life is GOOD.
From our sweet pea family to yours, we hope that your Love day is filled with those that you love most.
*Traveler tip: resorts and fancier hotels will often have midweek sales, so if you’re working with a slimmer budget, take an extra day off work, deviate from the trail a bit, and pay less for a romantic evening away!
These destructed resolution true skinny high-rise jeans from the GAP are my new obsession. Seriously, every time I’ve been into the gap in the last couple of weeks, someone has been buying them. For one simple reason: they are THE most comfortable jeans you will ever put on.
It was a balmy 8 degrees in Banff while we were there, so I didn’t need more than this super soft, super comfortable long cardigan from the GAP. I love this piece because it can be dressed up or dressed down. I wore it to The Bison for dinner with dressier pants and loafers and then with these distressed jeans and my go-to converse sneakers.
My FAVOURITE Anthropologie look right now: a ready-to-go layered shirt that combines comfy and lovely. I have officially now worn this to work AND on the slopes – paired with the ultimately cozy JH for Priv Hunter scarf, capturing all of the beauty Mt. Norquay has to offer.
