Who else is getting excited for Canada Day??!! The July 1st long weekend is always something to look forward to, but this year I think it’s safe to say that the festivities are going to be bigger and better than ever before. Canada is turning 150 and the prep for the big day can be seen all across Canada with impressive pop-ups and imagery. I have to say, I haven’t always been inspired to bust out the Canadiana and combat the crowds, but this year, whether it’s because it’s such a milestone or because I’m raising my own little Canadian, I’m feeling all kinds of festive!
I had a really tough time coming to terms with my little baby boy hitting this first major milestone. I was in deep denial that an entire year had gone by since I had held him in my arms for the first time. That, combined with the knowledge that I’d be heading back to work really effected me leading up to his big day. So, planning this party honestly helped me to feel some excitement about the whole thing. I’m so pleased with how it all turned out. The party, the people, and most of all, my first year of being a mommy to my baby.
Y’all. I wrote on my Instagram post yesterday all of the feels I had after experiencing my first Family Day with MY family. I just could not have asked for a better day to remind me of all that I have and how blessed I am! I know I should feel that way every day but in truth, this past year has been a blur of sleepless nights, exhausting days, and the learning curves of becoming a new parent. It’s been hard to live in the moment and really soak in all of the emotion.
I know it’s a controversial topic… Some moms just don’t believe in giving their kids screen time. They don’t want to rely on the television or iPad or iPhone to entertain their child. That’s totally FINE. Parenting is a unique experience, individual to each and every parent. We’re all going to have different ways of doing things and I think that’s perfectly OK. Let’s just get together, Moms, and agree to not judge each other and agree to disagree if we’re not going to agree… OK?! Ok. Fab. Let’s move on.
